IKEA & Bieber Monkeys Should Be With Their Own Kind

There was a time when Justin Bieber seemed like such a level-headed kid who did not let his fame affect him. Now, he's behaving like a real jerk. He is accused of a string of misconduct, and the latest one concerns allegations that Bieber uttered threats of violence and spat on his Los Angeles neighbor on March 26th. Allegedly, Bieber was driving around the neighborhood in the morning (around 8:00 AM) in his new Ferrarri – at 100 miles per hour! And the noise forced his neighbor to confront Bieber. It is believed that his neighbor will press charges and Bieber may be prosecuted. And if he was indeed driving around a residential street at very high speed, he could have been in a lot more trouble if he had hurt or killed one of the neighborhood children playing in the street. What a moron.

Justin Bieber's idiotic antics now has touched on the issue of animal welfare. In March, Bieber tried to turn his pet monkey, Mally, into a jet-setter and the animal was seized and quarantined at Munich, Germany, by the airport authorities. Apparently, Bieber didn't know that he needed paperwork to transport an animal (that might be carrying diseases) from one country to the next. However, Mally may be in luck. German custom officials have given Justin until the end of April to produce the proper documentation. If not, Mally will be placed in a proper facility for monkeys. That’s exactly what Mally needs and we at FrogBook.com hope Bieber will abandon the animal. But Justin may face smuggling charges and a fine of over $15,000.

Mally was taken away from his mother at nine to ten weeks old, and according to experts, that's too early. A protected species, capuchin monkeys are highly social animals that need to be with their own kind. To keep Mally alone in the house, especially at such a young age, will cause much mental distress to the animal. And according to Debbie Leahy of the Humane Society of the United States, ALL primates species are too wild to be kept as pets. Also, monkeys can become very aggressive, especially after sexual maturity. Often, after a monkey has destroyed everything in the house, it is kept in a cramped cage permanently by its owner, causing the animal much suffering. Calling Justin Bieber irresponsible, Ms. Leahy fears that he may have set a bad example for his millions of fans, who may now think it's fashionable, ethical, and safe to keep wild animals as pets. To the contrary, it is both selfish and thoughtless to keep wild animals in captivity. But sadly, this is a popular trend nowadays.

Case in point, the IKEA monkey. In December of 2012, in Toronto, Canada, a monkey wearing a winter coat and diapers escaped from a parked car at an IKEA parking lot and the whole world was enthralled. Since then, the animal (Darwin) has been taken away from his owner and is now at the center of a legal battle. The owner of the famed monkey, Yasmin Nakhuda, has been accused of strangling and hitting Darwin. Nakhuda has denied the allegations, but even she has admitted that Darwin can sometimes be quite uncontrollable, click here.

People like Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson are/were constantly surrounded by parasites who pass themselves off as friends. After a while, stars find solace with "human-like" animals like monkeys and chimps instead of real people. And our Ms. Nakhuda has substituted Darwin for her own son. However, we must always remember that wild animals can never reciprocate their owners' misplaced “love.” Petting and hugging a creature you have taken out of its natural environment is not love. It's abuse because the animals is suffering due to loneliness, a lack of space, and improper care.

Even though primates are more closely related to humans than domesticated dogs – and are more intelligent, they actually do not "connect" or empathize with humans as well as dogs and they NEVER will. Unlike dogs that have been selectively bred for thousands of years for this particular trait, wild animals can never be changed to "love" humans. UPDATE: Justin Bieber Abandons His Monkey!

(May 15, 2013) Justin Bieber's lawyers have indicated that the Bieb will not file the proper paperwork required by the deadline (Friday, May 17th) to reclaim his pet monkey, Mally. Animal rights groups are delighted and have praised Bieber for his decision. Now, Mally will finally leave the shelter and be placed with his own kind in a permanent home, likely a zoo, click here.

UPDATE: Owner Loses Custody Of IKEA Monkey

(September 13, 2013) Monkey "mommy" Yasmin Nakhuda has lost custody of Darwin the monkey, a.k.a. the IKEA monkey, click here. A Toronto, Ontario judge has dismissed Nakhuda's lawsuit because she signed a Toronto Animal Services form that transferred ownership of the monkey to the City of Toronto on December 9th, 2012, when Darwin escaped from Nakuda's car at an IKEA parking lot. At any rate, it is illegal to own a Japanese macaque in the City of Toronto.

It is very important to note that Judge Mary Vallee has ruled that Darwin is NOT a domesticated animal as Nakhuda claims, but instead is a wild animal; and once Nakhuda lost control of the animal, she also lost ownership of it. The judge based her ruling on a law about a hundred years old which states that a wild animal ceases to be owned once it escapes. This makes sense, since back in the day, one hunter could not prohibit other hunters from catching a roaming wild animal simply because he had supposedly owned it once. Now, Darwin will be staying at the Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary with his own kind, and he will not have to wear all those idiotic and uncomfortable clothes, diapers, and leashes.

[Updated Insert – October 12, 2013: It should not be surprising that Yasmin Nakhuda has now filed an appeal with the Ontario Court of Appeal to get Darwin back, click here. Selfish people like her don't care about tying up an already overburdened legal system with nonsense. If she had any kind of empathy, she should know that Darwin would be miserable throughout his entire life without the companionship of his own kind. While it is illegal to keep a monkey in the City of Toronto, there are no clear laws in this regard in the Province of Ontario. And Ms. Nakhuda has promised to move to another municipality that permits exotic pets if she gets Darwin back. So, it is difficult to know whether her appeal will succeed or not. KEYSTONE PIPELINE WOULD BE A DISASTER

Obama To Approve Pipeline After His Election Win?

~ Keystone XL pipeline means really dirty and corrosive oil.

The venerable Sierra Club is considered one of the oldest, largest, and most level-headed conservation organizations in the United States. For the first time in its over 120-year history, it has ended its prohibition against civil disobedience over the dreaded Keystone XL pipeline – the project is that bad in the eyes of the environmentalists. As a result, actress Daryl Hannah, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Sierra Club executive director Michael Brune – among many other famous and influential people – were all arrested for protesting at the White House last month.

Their fear is that after President Obama’s victory in the 2012 election – and not having to run again in 2016 – he may approve this project before the end of Spring. With turmoil spreading in the Middle East, Obama may want to secure a more stable supply of energy for the American economy from Canada. Also, with sequestration now a reality in the U.S., the president may very well fear that the huge across-the-board cuts in government spending will result in massive unemployment and an economic downturn, and this project is expected to create thousands of jobs in the U.S. However, according to the Sierra Club, this project is a bad deal for the people of United States while benefiting only Big Oil.

But the Canadian people also have paid a heavy price for extracting tar sands to benefit Big Oil. The damage that has been done to the Province of Alberta in terms of its environment is of such a monumental and terrifying scale that it likely has no parallel anywhere else in the world. In fact, Prime Minister Harper of Canada once boasted that this project is the biggest in human history, dwarfing the Great Wall of China. It is believed that Canada has the second largest oil reserve in the world, only behind Saudi Arabia.

Canada is now the largest source of oil to the U.S. The problem is, some of this "oil" (really a thick gooey tar called asphalt or bitumen) is mixed with sand, silt, and water; and it takes a lot of energy and toxic chemicals to squeeze asphalt out of millions of tons of muck (comprised of 80% sand, 5% water, and 10% bitumen). After the extraction process, tons of toxic sludge called tailings would remain to form countless poison ponds and lakes.

Experts believe the building of the Keystone XL pipeline would arm the tar sands project with the demand and capital it needs to fulfil its fullest, most horrific, potential; a fourfold increase of this monster is expected in the next twenty years. As a result, the environmental damage could grow to the point of no return for our planet. According to NASA climate scientist James Hansen, it's essentially "game over" for reversing Climate Change if the Keystone XL pipeline is approved (incidentally, he was also arrested for protesting at the White House in February).

Keystone proponents argue that the tar sands in Canada would have been developed whether the pipelines in the U.S. were built or not. They point out that the result would have been the same on Climate Change regardless, so why not create jobs for Americans? Frogbook.com's opinion is that there are not enough refineries in Canada to process the tar sands into synthetic crude oil before it can be shipped in gigantic amounts to China and elsewhere from the Canadian harbors. Therefore, Big Oil cannot fully develop the Albertan oil sands without the Keystone XL pipelines as vital conduits to the mighty American refineries. From there, this "dirty oil" would be shipped all over the Earth. That’s the KEY (no pun intended) for this abomination. It is expected that the Keystone XL pipeline would carry about 830,000 barrels of oil per day to the U.S. Gulf Coast refineries.

[Updated Insert – November 6, 2015: President Obama has denied a permit for the Keystone XL pipeline project (see video below. This should not be a big surprise as he vetoed a bill from Congress in February (read the article from Reuters: "Obama Vetoes Keystone XL Pipeline, Leaving It In Limbo"). We at the Frog Blog are glad to be wrong about President Obama. However, besides Obama's concern for the environment, the two other unexpected factors that might have influenced his decision are: 1) the surprising increase in local shale oil and gas production, making Canadian oil less desirable, and 2) the sudden drop in the world price of oil (around $50 per barrel) makes tar sands oil (produced at around $75 per barrel) untenable. TEACHING CREATIONISM IS CHILD ABUSE

Physicist Likens Creationists To The Taliban

~ Turning your kids into mindless idiots is child abuse.

Noted physicist Lawrence Krauss earlier this month declared that the teaching of Creationism (also referred to by its obfuscating name, "Intelligent Design") is a form of child abuse. According to Dr. Krauss, people in the United States are so ignorant that the National Science Foundation found that 50% of Americans think the Sun actually revolves around the Earth and not the other way around, click here. And in a recent Gallup poll (May, 2012), 46% of Americans believe that humans were created by God in their present form within the last 10,000 years. This is pathetic.

~ Teaching Creationism is like depriving a sick child of medicine.

America is perhaps the only advanced nation in the world where the idiotic Creation vs. Evolution debate still rages on. This cripples America as other nations forge strongly ahead with their rigorous math and science curriculums. European and Asians countries, including U.S. rival China, are making great strides in education while U.S. students rank poorly in math and science in comparison, click here. In fact, any kind of nonsense being disseminated to the public by fools and nuts in China may result in imprisonment. While such Draconian methods are rightly frowned upon by the West, commonsense should still prevail in the U.S. And although the teaching of Creationism as science is no longer allowed in America, Creationists still use many crafty strategies to seep rubbish into the classroom while society looks the other way.

The acclaimed 2012 documentary that addresses this issue, The Revisionaries, was first broadcast on PBS this January, click here. This award-winning film exposes the kind of "child abuse" that the Texas State Board of Education has inflicted on the kids of Texas. They do this by determining what should, and should not, be in the text books of all the subjects being taught, from history to biology to social studies. In essence, a bunch of laymen get to overrule the consensus generated by the scholars – the true experts. According to the former chairman of the Texas Board of Education, Don McLeroy, "Somebody's got to stand up to experts!"

These poor kids will have a hard time entering and surviving natural and social science courses in colleges and universities after they graduate. Worse than that, Texas is such a large market for text books that the stupidity of the Texas Board of Education actually influences the types of text books publishers print nationwide, and that in turn dictates what children in other states may read. This in turn hampers America's competitiveness on the world stage long into the future.

UPDATE: Fanatics Denied Medicine To Kids; 2 Died

(August 8, 2013) Yesterday, a judge in Philadelphia refused to dismiss third-degree murder charges against Herbert and Catherine Schaible for refusing to give their sick eight-month-old son medicine for religious reasons, click here. The baby died of pneumonia in April. These two morons belong to the First Century Gospel Church, which rejects medical science and preaches faith healing; to them, medicine is the tool of Satan (how insane is that). The reason for the judge's tough stance is because the couple did the same damned thing to another son, Kent, in 2009, a two-year-old who died from bacterial pneumonia after being denied medical treatment. For Kent's death, the Schaibles were convicted of involuntary manslaughter and were placed on probation for ten years. Under the terms of the probation, the couple was required to give all eight of their children (now seven) medical care.

~ Religious idiots face murder charges.

We at the Frog Blog have no idea if the state can prove its case against murder. The bar is set much higher than for manslaughter. In our opinion, even if the Schaibles did lie to the court in 2009 in regard to giving medical treatment to their kids, they might still believe in their hearts that praying to some magical sky master is the only way to treat pneumonia, even when their other son died in 2009. These religious fanatics always have justifications for their incompetence, such as saying, "It's Gods will," and other nonsense. They are stubborn idiots, not malicious idiots. If convicted, the couple may each face five to ten years for the probation violation and 20 to 40 years for the third-degree murder of this baby.

While FrogBook.com doesn't think the state can easily prove their case and a jury may end up setting these two imbeciles free, we do hope they will be found guilty and have the book thrown at them. Regardless of what was really in their hearts when they let their baby die, the harsh punishment they may receive if convicted would deter other less incorrigible and stupid fanatics from doing the same thing to their children. One thing is for sure, the court should have taken the Schaibles' kids away in 2009. The system has failed these children, especially the eight-month-old baby.

What Is The Oldest Living Thing On Earth Today?

~ The world's oldest living human at just under 116 years of age.

Guinness World Records has confirmed that on December 17th, 2012, Jiroemon Kimura of Japan is the oldest living human being in the world, after Dina Manfredini of the United States died at the age of 115 years and 257 days. This in itself is not so remarkable (as of January 2nd, 2013, Mr. Kimura is 115 years, 258 days old); what is notable is that the next nine oldest living people on Earth are all women, as life expectancy has historically been longer for women compared to men. Also, on December 28th, 2012, Jiroemon Kimura became the oldest verified human of the male gender in history. But there is more; on Jan. 2, 2013, Mr. Kimura became the 10th oldest human being who ever lived. What is so amazing is that he is the only male on this top-10 list and is also the only person still alive on this list. He is only the second male in history to have made it onto this list.

So, what is the oldest animal still living? That would likely be Jonathan the tortoise, estimated to be 181 years of age (he currently lives on the island of Saint Helena). He was caught in a photograph taken during the Boer War at around 1900; at the time, he was about 70 years old (see photo below). However, according to Guinness World Records, the oldest verified tortoise that ever lived was named Tu'i Malila; he lived for 188 years (from 1777 to 1965). He was a gift from Captain James Cook to the Tongan royal family.

However, there are perhaps other animals that can live even longer than Jonathan and Tu'i Malila. But first, for us humans, the oldest verified person in history was Jeanne Calment of France, who died in 1996 at the incredible age of 122 years, 164 days, click here. Humans are a long-lived species which can outlive many other species. But there are claims that certain animals can live for hundreds of years! The problem is, such claims are difficult to verify.

Finally, what is the oldest thing still alive in our world today? That would be a tree named Methuselah. This Great Basin bristlecone pine tree still grows today in the White Mountains range in the Inyo National Forest, which spans eastern California and Nevada (the exact location of Methuselah is not disclosed for fear of vandalism). Methuselah is believed to be around 4,850 years old! And as for the the oldest verified tree in history, according to Guinness World Records, that would be another Great Basin bristlecone pine named Prometheus. It was believed to be about 5,200 years old before it was cut down in 1964, click here.

UPDATE: World's Oldest Man Dies At 116

Jiroemon Kimura of Japan died on June 12th, 2013 at 116 years and 54 days old. He was the oldest verified person of the male gender who ever lived in world history. Now, the oldest living person is once again a woman, Misao Okawa, also of Japan; she is 115 years and 100 days old as of the writing of this update (June 13, 2013).

(August 18, 2013) Claims of being the oldest person in the world abound from all over the world, and we at FrogBook.com tend to ignore them unless some authority like Guinness World Records confirms it. But the claim that Mr. Carmelo Flores Laura of Bolivia has a baptism certificate to prove it really got the media's attention, click here. His claim of being 123 years old would mean he is not only the oldest human alive, but also in world history. And for a person of the male gender instead of a woman to claim this title would be quite amazing.

The government registry which claims Mr. Laura is 123 years old got the information from his baptism certificate. But the actual copy of the physical certificate cannot be shown to the media for privacy reasons. However, a digital record for the baptism does exist and it actually shows that he was born on July 16, 1906 rather than on July 16, 1890, click here. There must have been some sort of error when data from the baptism certificate was transferred to the government registry. Still, a 107-year-old man is fascinating nonetheless! But the oldest person alive today, confirmed by Guinness World Records, is a woman named Misao Okawa of Japan at over 115 years old. And the oldest verified living person of the male gender is Salustiano Sanchez of the U.S. at over 112.

Gov'ts Try To Calm Fears As Dec. 21st Approaches

~ Mayans couldn't make calendars forever – tired, not End-Time.

As we approach the end of the Maya 5,125-year cyclic (or "Long Count") calendar on December 21, 2012, panic steadily rises all over the world. End-Time scenarios circulate unabated; they include the Earth being struck by a giant asteroid (or another planet), the Earth being fried by a super solar storm, the Earth shifting its rotational axis, the Earth reversing its magnetic poles, the Earth being in a planetary alignment where natural disasters such as tornadoes, massive floods, and earthquakes ravish our world.

There are reports of Americans running out to buy guns, survival equipment, and provisions. In China, bloggers are circulating that the Apocalypse will have arrived when we see our planet being blanketed by three days of total darkness. Also, one idiot in China cashed in his life savings of $160,000 in order to build an ark to survive Dec 21st. In France, people are planning to converge at the top of Mount Pic de Bugarach, waiting for space aliens to rescue them. There are also reports of expensive underground shelters being sold to the gullible in France, the U.S., and elsewhere.

To avoid needless accidents and social instability, governments around the world are trying their best to alleviate fears. The mayor of Bugarach, France has banned UFO watchers and light aircraft from being on top of the fabled mountain that is supposed to be the landing site of space aliens. In Russia, the Ministry of Emergency Situations told its citizens to come to their senses. In the U.S., NASA and the Voice of America created websites and videos to dispel nonsense and superstition. While ten percent of the world population believes December 21st is a day of catastrophe, some people in Mexico and Central America are celebrating the end of one Long Count cycle and the beginning of another. To them, December 21st is an auspicious and happy day. If the descendants of the Mayans don't know, then who does?

(December 28, 2012) The loons are not done with 2012. Now, Warren Jeffs, jailed leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (or the FLDS Church) is telling his followers to prepare for the Apocalypse at the end of 2012. This lunatic is currently serving a life sentence plus 20 years for child sexual assault.

~ Jeffs, a narcissistic psychopath, might harm his followers.

As dumb as this sounds, there is nothing to laugh at here. Authorities fear that the megalomaniac, who still runs the FLDS Church from behind bars, might order the murder/suicide of his followers – not unlike cult leaders Jim Jones and David Koresh. A narcissistic psychopath who is cornered like a rat in prison with no hope of freedom might want to destroy his entire congregation to make a point. And it seems his followers are a bunch of brainwashed fools who would carry out his orders. Our only hope is that the most dire outcome is not being planned by Jeffs and the first sunrise of 2013 will wake up some in his flock.

UFO SPOTTED OVER DENVER!

If Aliens Do Exist, Can They Reach Us?


For months, an unidentified flying object was spotted over the City of Denver. And a number of days ago, news crews captured it on tape. Let us note that "unidentified" means just that and the term "UFO" by no means points to the object in question as an extraterrestrial spacecraft. Odds are, there is a rational, earthly explanation for the sighted object – likely a secret U.S. military aircraft. The Buckley Air Force Base is based in the City of Aurora, which along with the City of Denver, make up the Denver Metropolitan Area.

Having stated all that, FrogBook.com must reiterate that we believe life-forms outside of our solar system are likely to exist. In our article titled, "There Are Billions Of Habitable Planets!" we reported that scientists believe there might be other life-forms in other parts of our galaxy. But even though there are literally billions of habitable planets in the Milky Way Galaxy, the distance between such planets are so vast that it sometimes takes thousands of years for light to travel from one livable planet to another, let alone actual life-forms riding in spaceships (it takes light one year to travel 5.9 trillion miles or 10 trillion kilometers). And according to the laws of physics, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light.

Even though life does probably exist out there and there are billions of habitable planets in the galaxy, the percentage of livable planets that actually contain life is likely very small; and the chance of intelligent life-forms living on these habitable planets is even smaller. However, the number of extraterrestrial civilizations might still be in the millions; but even millions would be easily diluted into insignificance by our vast galaxy. Once you factor in the sheer unfathomable distances between bodies in our galaxy, the chance of livable planets that contain intelligent life being close enough to our Earth to permit space-travel is next to zero.

Physical contact from aliens is out of the question. Nevertheless, we humans might one day receive messages from other civilizations not only in our galaxy but in other galaxies as well; but these messages might be thousands to millions of years old due to the limits of the speed of light. Although we haven't received anything thus far, the chance of us receiving extraterrestrial messages in the future is greater than zero. But don't expect them in your own lifetime!

UPDATE: "Area 51 Is Real": C.I.A.

(August 17, 2013) Yesterday, the Central Intelligence Agency confirmed that Area 51 exists and is really Groom Lake or Homey Airport, a detachment of the Nevada Test and Training Range (U.S. Air Force). However, it is not a place where space aliens rendezvous, or where the U.S. government conducts experiments on extraterrestrials, or where the Pentagon studies spaceships. Instead, it was the testing site in the 1950's for high-altitude U-2 reconnaissance planes. And later, the supersonic reconnaissance A-12 aircraft and the F-117 stealth ground-attack jet were also tested here. As we said earlier in this article ("UFO Spotted Over Denver"), UFO sightings are likely sightings of experimental government aircraft (including drones), especially if the site in question is near a military facility. Commonsense?

UPDATE: Did Life On Earth Come From Mars?

(September 1, 2013) Biochemist Steven Benner of The Westheimer Institute for Science and Technology in Florida presented his findings a few days ago at the annual Goldschmidt Conference in Florence, Italy. He discussed that one of the ingredients of life is molybdenum and the Earth simply did not have enough of it when life began to develop millions of years ago. He concluded that molybdenum, which is abundant on Mars, must have came to Earth via Martian meteorites.

UPDATE: Bigfoot Caught On Tape; DNA Collected

(October 3, 2013) ABC News and other news outlets reported claims of Bigfoot sightings yesterday. The reporters sounded a bit tongue-in-cheek, click here. The researchers, who call themselves the Sasquatch Genome Project, gave a press conference on October 1st; we think the purpose of this event was simply to promote their upcoming documentary.

However, these researchers have apparently collected samples of blood, hair, and DNA from a number of Bigfoots and have shared their evidence with real scientists, who have neither proven nor disproven their case. At any rate, if the researchers really had gotten that close to that sleeping female juvenile Bigfoot (see video above), why didn't they try to tranquilize it and capture it? You would think a female juvenile should not be a big problem for them to handle. It would have been one of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time. Hmmm....

On September 27th, Republican Congressman Paul Broun made a speech at a sportsman's banquet at the Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell, Georgia. We can only assume Mr. Broun was pandering to the base and had no intentions of making his views known to the outside world. However, his ridiculous comments were reported all over the world last week. He said, “All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and Big Bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of hell. And it's lies to try to keep me and all the folks who are taught that from understanding that they need a Savior." Broun also said that the Earth is only 9,000 years old and was created by God in six days.

What’s even more outrageous, this damned fool sits on the United States House Committee on Science, Space and Technology. On the committee, he is joined by Republican Representative Todd Akin from Missouri, who also recently gained international infamy after he claimed that women who are “legitimately raped” cannot get pregnant – implying that women who are date-raped are not really raped. Of course, his comments are total rubbish with zero support from science, click here. Both these men have made America a laughing stock around the world. However, they and their fundamentalist backers are devious, often advocating nonsense such as Intelligent Design and anti-abortion quackery posing as legitimate science.

Even in a democracy, it makes no sense to appoint onto committees politicians whose sole agenda is to undermined and destroy the mission of that very same committee! That's letting the fox guard the hen house. However, Mr. Broun is a former medical doctor and Mr. Akin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. Are they really knuckle-dragging idiots, or are they just scamming their own constituents for votes? We'll never know. But either way, this can’t possibly be good for society or democracy. The radical Tea Party movement has damaged the Republican Party and America – perhaps irreparably – by touting morons and dogma on one hand, and by making liars and fakers out of the moderates on the other. What you end up with is a destabilized and gridlocked nation paralyzed by fanaticism and dishonesty. Case in point: Republican candidate for the presidency, Mitt Romney.

Wild Animals Will ALWAYS Be Wild And Unpredictable

~ Children should never be near wild animals.

Damian Aspinall is a British millionaire businessman and conservation activist. The problem is, he doesn't know what the hell he’s doing. 22 years ago, he placed his 18-month-old toddler, Tansy, together with a 300-pound gorilla and he taped it. It seems that he knew even back then that it was the wrong thing to do and he didn't release the video to the public until now. He claims he is releasing the tape now because he wants the world to see just how gentle gorillas really are. But we at FrogBook.com think this is just a publicity stunt to bring attention and funding to the Aspinall Foundation, which among other campaigns tries to bring captive gorillas back into the wild.

There are many examples of wild animals that have been raised by humans since birth and seem gentle but attack their owners/handlers with absolutely no warning. One notable example is Siegfried & Roy. In 2003, Roy Horn was bitten in the neck by a 7-year-old tiger that had been trained by Horn since it was just a cub. Horn was in critical condition for several weeks. He also underwent surgery on his skull and suffered a stroke and partial paralysis. It took him years to recover.

Another animal that can turn violent are trained killer whales in theme parks. These huge animals live under such cramped conditions that their violent behavior due to stress and mental anguish should not be surprising.

What Is Tameness?

~ Natural selection changed wolves into dogs since the Stone Age.

Just because a wild animal is intelligent and is trainable does not mean it is – or can be – tamed or domesticated. An intelligent wild animal can learn cues and behave accordingly in order to get a piece of food or treat. But that does not mean the animal actually "connects" or empathizes with a human being like a domesticated dog can. This tameness has been selectively bred into dogs for thousands of years – first, when wolves foraged around early human waste dumps and were affected by natural selection; and later when humans began to selectively bred them for certain traits.

And just because a chimpanzee is closely related to humans and seems gentle and intelligent, that does not mean it is as tame as a dog or that it can even connect with humans as well as a dog! In fact, some of the most horrific attacks on humans have been made by chimpanzees. In 2009, at Stamford, Connecticut, a pet chimpanzee literally tore off the entire face of a woman by the name of Charla Nash without any warning, click here. Now, think about Tansy Aspinall.

UPDATE: Man Jumps In With Tigers

(September 22, 2012) A nut by the name of David Villalobos jumped from a monorail train into an enclosure for tigers at the Bronx Zoo yesterday. He was badly mauled and almost lost his foot as a tiger had dragged him all over place by the foot. He was also bitten in the arms, legs, back, and shoulder. The intruder said he wanted to “be one with the tiger.” On his Facebook page, Villalobos claims to be an animal lover.

He is the perfect example of misplaced love for wild animals. If you truly love animals, first UNDERSTAND them. Educate yourself. Then give wildlife what they really need – begin by helping organizations that protect their habitat in the wild. They don’t want you to pet or feed them – while being locked up in your backyard. We at FrogBook.com are relieved that the Bronx Zoo will not put down the tiger involved in this incident. The Siberian tiger involved could very well have been shot during the rescue process if this idiot had not been able to escape quickly. This shows just how thoughtless and selfish Villalobos was. As we’ve been saying throughout this article, this tiger just did what tigers do. Wild predatory animals should only be destroyed if they are released into the human community, such as in the tragic situation in Zanesville, Ohio, click here. Some people are angry that the freed animals at Zanesville were killed, but this just betrays their total lack of understanding of wild animals.
